Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.

At Bay Mills Community College, we are dedicated to ensuring that all members of our community have equal access to educational opportunities and benefits. We do not tolerate discrimination, harassment, or any form of retaliation. Our Title IX Coordinator and staff are here to support you and ensure that your rights are upheld.

What Constitutes Discrimination Under Title IX?

Title IX prohibits:

  • Sexual Harassment: Unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature that affects a person’s education or creates a hostile environment.
  • Sexual Assault: Any type of sexual activity that occurs without explicit consent.
  • Dating Violence: Violence committed by a person who is or has been in a romantic or intimate relationship with the victim.
  • Domestic Violence: Violence committed by a current or former spouse or intimate partner.
  • Stalking: Repeated and unwanted attention, harassment, or contact that causes fear or concern for safety.

 

Reporting and Support

If you believe you have experienced or witnessed discrimination, harassment, or any other Title IX violation, please contact the Title IX Coordinator whose information is located at the top of this page. We offer confidential support and will guide you through the reporting process.

 

Training and Education

We provide regular training and educational programs for students, faculty, and staff to promote awareness and prevent discrimination and harassment.
