Commencement at Bay Mills Community College

 

We are honored to celebrate the Bay Mills Community College Class of 2026 at their Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in Adikameg Hall.

Event Details At a Glance


 

Graduates will receive an email a few months before the ceremony with information regarding the ceremony, a request to RSVP to the ceremony, and request for sizing information for their cap and gown. Once the RSVP and sizing information is submitted, BMCC will order the caps and gowns and distrubute them to graduates before the day of the ceremony. Graduates who have not picked up their cap and gown prior will receive them in the Student Success Center the day of the ceremony.

  • Assembly
    • Graduates will assemble in the Student Success Center (SSC) at 9:15 a.m.
    • Graduates will receive their caps, gowns, and other items in the SSC. 
    • Wear the tassel on the right front side until your degree is conferred, then move it to the left front side.
  • Procession
    • Graduates will form the procession line in the Student Success Center. The procession line will go down the stairs and into Adikameg Hall for the ceremony.
    • If you have concerns regarding accessibility, contact [email protected] and staff will assist you with taking the elevator to Adikameg Hall and rejoining the procession line.
  • Recessional
    • Following the ceremony, the drummers and singers will start an honor song, signaling the start of the recessional in this order: Faculty, then Graduates.
    • A light lunch will be served for graduates and guests after the ceremony.

  • Adikameg Hall is in the lower level of the Michael C. Parish Administration building.
  • Parking for graduates and guests will be available in front of the Michael C. Parish Administration building.
  • Signs will be posted inside the building leading guests to Adikameg Hall.
    • Once inside the Michael C. Parish Administration building, turn left for stairs or turn right and bathrooms and an elevator will be on the right side of the hallway.

  • Will I be listed in the Commencement program?
    • All graduates will be listed in the program, whether in attendance to the ceremony or not.
  • What time should graduates arrive on Commencement Day?
    • Graduates are asked to arrive at 9:15 a.m. at the Student Success Center (SSC).
  • Where do I get my cap and gown?
    • BMCC will purchase your cap and gown and other items for you and distribute them before the day of the ceremony or the day of the ceremony. Graduates will a receive an email a few months before the ceremony requesting an RSVP to the ceremony and sizing information for your gown. If you're graduating and didn't receive this email, contact [email protected].
  • How many guests can I bring?
    • BMCC does not have a limit on how many guests you can bring. Seating in Adikameg Hall will be first come first served.
    • Guests are respectfully asked to not join graduates in the Student Success Center before the ceremony, but rather to proceed to Adikameg Hall to wait for the commencement procession.
  • Will there be a chance to take photos with my guest/my graduate?
    • Of course! After the ceremony there will be plenty of time to congratulate graduates, visit with guests, and take photos. A light lunch will also be served at that time.
  • Will there be a professional photographer?
    • Erin Smith Photography will be taking photos of graduates in their commencement regalia prior to the ceremony and when graduates walk to receive their credentials.
    • The BMCC Media team will also be capturing candid photos and videos.
  • What accessories can I wear to commencement?
    • Bay Mills Community College is a proud Tribal College that centers our Indigenous identity. We encourage graduates to incorporate traditional dress of their Tribe into their commencement regalia, such as feathers for caps, beadwork, furs, moccasins, ribbon clothing, etc.
    • Decoration of caps is accepted.
    • All graduates will receive tassles and stoles.
    • Honors cords will be distributed to honors graduates.

For everyone:

  • BMCC will be holding a special commencement ceremony on June 3, 2026 at 6 pm.
  • At the Ballroom located in the Silver Star Casino & Resort Convention Center, in Philadelphia, Mississippi.
  • Non-graduating students in the area are encouraged to attend the ceremony.

For graduates

  • Graduates arrive at 5:00 pm.
  • Group and individual photos will be taken before the ceremony.
