Education
Associate of Arts
The Education Associate of Arts Degree is designed to provide students a course of study that will prepare them for employment as qualified paraprofessionals or for transfer to a four-year university to complete a baccalaureate degree in Education. In a manner consistent with the mission of the college, students are provided with a foundation of core liberal arts and education courses as well as sufficient electives to meet individual career and transfer paths.
Employment Information
Employment of school teachers is “projected to grow 6% from 2014 to 2024, about as
fast as the average for all occupations”, according to the Occupational Outlook Handbook.
A substantial number of older teachers are expected to reach retirement age between
2014 and 2024. Their retirement will increase the need to replace workers who leave
the occupation. Opportunities will vary by region and school settings. There will
be better opportunities in urban and rural school districts than in suburban school
districts.

See What Our Students are Saying about the Education Program
“The education program at BMCC has a curriculum that incorporates wellbeing, promotes
creativity, fosters learning and enhances academic achievement for those who are considering
a teaching degree or any job opportunity in a school environment. It encouraged a
social bond between myself and the other classmates entering my cohort, as well as
the professors I worked with throughout my two years in the program. I loved the positive
energy and extensive amount of experience my instructors brought to the table. I strongly
urge anyone with even the slightest interest in working in the education field to
check out what BMCC has to offer!”
