Update: Beginning Monday, August 23rd, 2021, Bay Mills Community College will require all employees, students, vendors, and visitors to wear masks inside campus buildings. We hoped to begin the school year without having to wear masks, but due to the number of increasing cases in our county and surrounding communities, BMCC must take the additional step of requiring the wearing of masks.

COVID-19 Safety

Beginning Monday, August 23, 2021, Bay Mills Community College will require all employees, students, vendors, and visitors to wear masks inside campus buildings.  We hoped to begin the school year without having to wear masks, but due to the number of increasing cases in our county and surrounding communities, BMCC must take the additional step of requiring the wearing of masks.

By wearing masks while on campus now, we hope to stay in front of the curve as much as possible.  BMCC was able to navigate the pandemic successfully during the last school year due to the COVID protocols that were in place.

Overall, BMCC strives to provide a safe learning environment for everyone.  BMCC will offer hand sanitizing stations, sanitizing wipes for hard surfaces and computers, and disposable masks.  I know that we have become accustomed to not wearing masks over the summer.  However, we want everyone on our campus and in our community to be as safe as possible, especially since the highly contagious delta variant continues to spread.

BMCC will continue to consider all recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, the Chippewa County Health Department, the Bay Mills Health Center, and other experts.  As BMCC has done throughout the pandemic, we will continue to monitor the situation, assess our COVID-19 protocols, and adjust as recommendations from medical, public health, government, and higher education experts are provided.

Our priority is the health and safety of our campus community.

I will continue to provide regular updates throughout the school year.  Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have.  Stay safe!
